Who We Are Politically
Agreed, government plays a very significant role in our lives. However, it is unfortunate that we Canadians have come to define ourselves primarily and permanently as either Liberals or Conservatives. Do we not believe that there is more to us as Canadians than simply being Liberals, Conservatives, Left, Right, or their extremes?
Perhaps it is we who perpetuate the two-party system, then blame politics for failing to deliver results — or even accuse it of “destroying the country.” Forget the world for a moment. What real efforts have we made to make politics work for the people, the nation, and the country?
Our identity is forged on our desire to be completely different from both Liberals and Conservatives — not only in policies, but also in the conduct of politics itself. We seek what we believe are the reasonably correct positions in the existential and political context of our country, the people, the nation, the human species and the world in general.
We are committed to conducting our business differently, so that we deliver clearly different and distinguishable results — consistently and predictably — regardless of leadership changes, political adversaries, or external pressures that might tempt us to compromise our principles or make excuses for our failures.
Civic Nationalist
Canada’s uniqueness comes from its history, geography, and people. These forces unite us into one nation — not through ethnicity or ancestry, but through shared values, institutions, responsibilities, and a common future. History belongs to those who create it. We believe in building a cohesive Canada where newcomers and native-born alike commit to our civic identity and contribute to the ongoing story of this nation.
Western Agonist
Western and Eastern civilizations differ not by superiority, but by time and historical circumstance. The West matured in the modern era through the Enlightenment, while Eastern civilizations faced greater survival pressures. This shaped distinct cultures, laws, and governance. We defend the West’s emphasis on Freedom, Reason, and rule of law — not out of arrogance, but because these principles have best advanced human flourishing.
Pragmatic Economist
Economy is not for its own sake, nor for the benefit of the few. It must serve every member of our society — rich or poor, skilled or unskilled, professionals or tradespeople, blue or white collar. We believe that when mediocrity, corruption, ideology, and naive thinking are reduced, space is created for ideas, excellence, and thoughtfulness to flourish. Only then can our economy truly prosper, create opportunity, and lift all Canadians.
Hopeful Realist
Canadians should reject the current two-party system, where the official opposition — whether Conservative or Liberal — too often thrives on cynicism, anger, mistrust, and endless attack. This cycle drags the country into hopelessness. We refuse to participate in it. By our founding principles, we are neither cynical nor fatalistic. A party cannot spend years attacking everything and then suddenly claim moral worthiness. We choose a better path: clear-eyed realism paired with genuine hope.
Global Multilateralist
On global issues like the Ukraine war, climate change, or suffering in Gaza, we reject both extremes. Conservatives often disengage, while Liberals overestimate our power to fix everything. Effectiveness decreases with distance. We cannot ensure billions sent abroad are not wasted. The wiser approach is practical stewardship — involving all parties, including beneficiary nations, and contributing smart, accountable amounts rather than massive unchecked transfers.
A bit of a “Dreamatolgist”
We are not robots driven solely by pragmatism and realism. We are humans — and humans dream. We believe in imagining possibilities. History proves that yesterday’s fantasies can become today’s reality — from flying across oceans to instant communication through small unconnected boxes. We cherish dreams, but we refuse to be gullible. We hold them lightly — inspired by possibility, yet firmly grounded in responsibility and reality.
